Hygain FAST TWITCH FORMULA is a unique blend of antioxidants, amino acids and minerals that may be of assistance to horses suffering from muscle related disorders such as tying up or PSSM.

As horses progress from paddock condition to race fitness (during preparation), muscle fibres must adapt to increasing demands. Fast twitch fibres are recruited to provide power, which is required as the quantity and intensity of work increases. In response to training fast twitch fibres generate more mitochondria (the power house of the muscle cell) and increase blood and oxygen levels. If work is increased before adaptation occurs, muscles will switch to anaerobic production of energy, increasing the production of lactic acid. Muscles may lose suppleness, which in turn may result in tying up syndrome.

Fast Twitch provides specific nutrients to assist mitochondrial formation, reduce the incidence of tying up syndrome.

For horses positive to the GYS1 gene (PSSM), it is recommended a low starch diet, combined with Fast Twitch formula be fed.

For best results, Fast Twitch should be used in conjunction with an exercise program that maximises the use of the Fast Twitch Oxidative fibres.

Directions for use:
Feed rates, as a guide.
Add 1 cup (200g) to morning and evening feeds for 3 weeks or until smooth adaptation returns.
For horses with a history of poor adaptation, a 3 week course of Fast Twitch is recommended prior to beginning of pace work.
