Discobar is a new label founded by Guillaume Taillieu and Lamache, two London-based DJs from France. They've enlisted fellow French act Odd Soul to handle Discobar's minimal-flavoured first release, Rumba. The record has three originals from Odd Soul and a remix from The Mole, each with an easy-going sound. "Rumba" gets the 12-inch going with a four-note bass riff, glitch samples and metallic bongos. It's the pick of Odd Soul's tracks here, which also include the plodding "Capitoul" and the hazy "Sunday Swing." These two are extremely stripped back, with barely more than a kick drum, bassline and a few sporadic, bright synth notes. The Mole's rework of the title track is Rumba's best moment. It retains the A-side's lively bass and injects a few extra chords, vocals and synth sounds into the picture. This is the only one that's likely to have widespread appeal-the three originals are probably reserved for only the most minimal-minded crowds.

Tracks:
1.1 Rumba
1.2 Capitoul
2.1 Rumbapitoul [The Mole's Rumboul Mix]
2.2 Sunday Swing
