Grandidierite is a super rare stone. It is so rare, in fact, that the ratio of facetable gem quality to rough stone is 1 to 10,000! Most people have never heard of it or seen it, because there simply isn't enough of it around to supply a jewelry market demand. Eye clean stones are rarely found over one carat, and stones of this size are almost always transluscent or opaque. It can only go up in value over time, and this stone could be set in a pendant, or simply held as a collector's stone.
This gemstone is 9.68 carats and measures 15.66 X 11.86 X 7.56 mm. It is untreated/unheated/unenhanced in any way, and was mined in Madagascar.
