Marcel Boucher was a French jeweler. In the early 1920s, he moved to New York City, where he developed a passion for jeweler design, By the 1930s, he was working for Mazer Brothers. However, in 1937 he decided to establish his own company, which he called Marcel Boucher and Cie. Marcel Boucher, in addition to being a talented designer, was also a skilled craftsman. He began his career in the jewelry business as a model maker for Cartier bringing design sketches into dimensional form. He worked for the famed fine jeweler in France and then moved to New York City. Many workers in the industry transitioned to costume jewelry as the Great Depression raged during the 1930s, and Marcel Boucher was one of them.
